The Nate Berkus Show, hosted by the popular design expert and New York Times bestselling author, who has appeared regularly on The Oprah Winfrey Show, recently invited local 16-year-old Blakely Colvin of Solvang, to share her non-profit “Cupcakes for Cancer” story on national television.

The new NBC Nate Berkus program is a daily syndicated multi-topic and multi-segment series that presents a broad range of subjects and guests based on lifestyle, entertainment, inspiration and personal transformation. He began hosting his own show, which debuted Sept. 13.

In the fall of 2007, Blakely, created her own Non-Profit dubbed Cupcakes for Cancer.

Since the inception of Cupcakes for Cancer three years ago, Blakely, with the help of family and friends, has raised $65,000, (all with sweet cupcakes) granted seven wishes for ill children here on the Central Coast through The Make a Wish Foundation of the Tri-counties (Ventura to San Luis), donated $10,000 to The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara, gifted a $1,000 college scholarship to a deserving high school graduate, and started a national outreach campaign “Frosting Hope Across America.”

The “Cupcakes for Cancer” segment of The Nate Berkus Show will air at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 on NBC channel 6 KSBY.
